Introduction to Android Development (NYC)

A lot of us have had ideas for great apps bouncing around in our brains, but lack the skills necessary to bring our ideas to life. Whether you’re a novice techie, an entrepreneur, or just an Android phone owner, in this class you’ll learn all about the Android SDK as well as the basic building blocks of making an Android App. Then you’ll work together with the class in developing a basic weather App.

 

This class takes place at GA New York City (West) on Saturday, October 26th from 11am – 5pm. Register now to reserve your place.

Kelum Peiris is a experienced Mobile Software Developer with The Working Group. TWG is an Internet software company made up of designers, coders, thinkers and friends, with offices in Toronto and NYC. They work with a refreshing mix of technology start-ups, established media companies and recognized business brands like the Globe & Mail, Freshbooks, CBC and Telus, to craft powerful web and mobile applications. At TWG, Kelum is primarily involved in developing Android and iPhone apps for clients. He graduated from the University of Waterloo, where he specialized in mobile development. Kelum has a keen interest in advanced concepts in Object Oriented Programming and Design Patterns.

Stephan Leroux 
Mobile Software Developer, The Working Group

Stephan Leroux is a developer at The Working Group where he focuses on mobile application development for a wide range of platforms including iOS, Android and BlackBerry. Since graduating from the University of Waterloo, for the past 5 years he’s developed top apps for clients including the Toronto Maple Leafs, CBS Interactive, and BlackBerry (RIM). Along with a porfolio of larger clients, he’s also helped startups such as Rocketr, Greengage and Punchcard by providing mobile development and strategy expertise.
