FITC Screens 2013: Mobile vs Responsive

October 2, 2013 @ 9:00 am - October 4, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

Should you build a separate mobile site or a responsive site? Turns out, the answer is neither! Find out why at FITC SCREENS 2013 with TWG Senior Dev Derek Watson. He’ll be reviewing the two most popular strategies for creating mobile web properties (separate mobile-specific sites vs. responsive css), the pros and cons of each, and and a little known third technique that marries the best of both worlds.

About Derek

Derek Watson

Derek is a developer who currently spends his time writing Rails, node.js, cracking jokes and being tall. He’s a senior dev at TWG, where he solves problems for innovators at tech start-ups, established media companies and big brands. This means getting up close and personal with a wide range of CMS platforms, including home-grown TWG Rails CMS, Comfy Mexican Sofa.

Unquestionably full-stack, he’s worked with companies of all shapes and sizes, from startups to massive media conglomerates. Recent projects include CTV’s iPad app and the flagship Windows 8 application for the Globe and Mail.

In his spare time, Derek enjoys bicycles, bad comedies and chasing his baby daughter.
