Effective Customer Development: From Idea Through Product Market Fit

This seminar is part of Multiplicity’s  Speaker Series on Ideation and Validation. These sessions are geared to start-up technology companies, and are designed to deliver tactical skills that can be implemented immediately. It takes place at ING Network Orange (221 Yonge St) on Wednesday, 23rd October from 5.30 p.m – 7.30 p.m.

Customer development is important to discover product features that solve customer needs, and validate or invalidate business assumptions. Building a product before talking to your potential customers could cause you to spending time and money building something no one wants. Tom Walsham, Director of Product Development at The Working Group, doesn’t want that to happen. Tom will be sharing his strategies for building great products based in lean startup methodology principles. This session will focus on:

About Tom Walsham

 

Tom Walsham is Director of Product Development at The Working Group – an Internet software company dedicated to producing user-centric software through utilization of Lean principles and Agile development.  In addition, as Chief Email Herder at PostageApp he has ongoing practical experience in managing a fast-growth SaaS product offering, as well as using Postage as a test bed for ideas and implementation of Lean Product Development.

 

Over the past decade working in tech, his career has led from the blinkenlights of systems administration, through software development, and ultimately into Lean-focused product management working at and with startups on product development, metrics and marketing.  Previously Tom has held roles in Product Management for Bookmark.com – a browser synchronization startup – and worked extensively in email and online marketing.
