TWG has received two OMMA Awards for its work with TSN on Favela United. The work was recognized as the year’s best Sports website and received the 2015 “Best In Show” award for website excellence. Favela United was also a finalist in the Integrated Campaign category.
The OMMA Awards were created in 2004 to honour agencies and advertisers that push the potential of digital. Their Website Excellence Awards go to Web publishers and/or Web developers whose websites show outstanding content, visual design and user interface creating value for users.
Produced by TSN and TWG, the online documentary piece marks TSN’s entry into the world of longform digital storytelling. Combining atmospheric sound, photos and videos with original writing by Rick Westhead, the experience brings the reader into lives of the girls living in the favelas. TWG designed the branding and typography and provided creative direction for the online experience.
The online experience, optimized for desktop viewing, accompanies a full broadcast feature, which premiered on June 13, 2015 as part of TSN’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015™ coverage. Favela United is the latest of a number of collaborative projects between TSN and TWG, including the award-winning TSN Hockey iOS app.
