We’re super excited to announce the addition of Emerson Lackey to the TWG team. And here’s the back story ..
Born and raised in the bustling burg of London, Ontario, Emerson spent his formative years skateboarding, listening to the second wave of punk, and leading a remarkably normal life in the suburbs. After finishing High School, Emerson decided to break the mould and head up the 401 to Montréal, promptly renting a flat in the Red light district with his girlfriend (now wife), donning a beret, eating bagels, and studying Philosophy, Political science and Leonard Cohen at Concordia University.
Emerson completed his university degree, but.. ever the risk taker, decided that rather than slide into a life of leisure and privilege that every Philosophy major can expect, he chose to take an incredibly risky career leap in 2008 to enter into a little known area of technology that some were calling ‘INTERNET’.
The charm and culture of the Quebécois kept Emerson and Sarah happily in Montréal for 10 years. However Emerson finally, and painfully decided to leave the storied streets of Montreal to return to English Canada following a few years of web agency work under the sage tutelage of Warren and the great team at Plank. Emerson met up with us, ran through our grueling ‘Iron Coder’ exercise, and now sits next to Scott and across from Derek, in the middle of our rails team. Emerson shares our love of good music, good food, good code. Bonus.. he fills and empties the dishwasher more than anyone we’ve ever met.
He’s interested in Coffee, Art, Music, and general City life – his apartment in West Queen West is turning out to be a great fit, and you can check him out on Twitter or Instagram (emerson_lackeyca). He’s an engaging mix of technical skill, artistic sensibilities, and analytical prowess.. here at TWG, we are thrilled to welcome Emerson on board the TWG bus, in our continuing mission to boldly go where no one has gone before. Please join us in welcoming an all-round great guy. Bienvenue Emerson.
